People don't care about the environmental and climate disaster we are experiencing because they don't understand yet the gravity of the situation. Climate change should be our top priority and contrary to what you say, I think that people need more in depth information and not less. If people would understand how the Earth works and how our fossil fuel orgy has already disturbed the atmosphere and ocean currents enough to create a Blue Ocean Event in the Arctic, they would all be clamoring their governments for drastic change of the energy and climate status quo.
